Sikh Turban is important part of sikhism.
The piece of cloth tied on the head, to cover it, is called turban.
In punjabi it is called Pagri or Dastaar.
Among the Sikhs, the turban is an article of faith, honour, self-respect, courage, spirituality and piety.
The turban is considered an important part of the unique Sikh identity.
The turban has been an integral part of the Sikh Tradition since the time of Guru Nanak Dev ji.
It serves as a mark of commitment to the sikh Gurus.
The turban is our Guru's gift.
It decrees accountability for certain spiritual and temporal duties.
This is how we crown ourself as Singhs.
Mainly Sikh men wear turban but few sikh women also wear turban.
Wearing a turban is mandatory for Amritdhari Sikhs known as Khalsas.
Guru Gobind Singh ji stated :
Khalsa me hau karo niwas" |
